Currently starring on ABC's "Boston Legal", the native New Yorker graduated in 2002 from London's esteemed conservatory Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, where her extensive training included dance and stage combat. Among her London theatre credits are The Seagull, Light Shining in Buckinghamshire, The Children's Hour and The Pentecost. She most recently co-starred opposite in Miss Match. Lake Bell stars as Victoria, Kate’s (Alicia Silverstone) savvy, no-nonsense best friend and co-conspirator, in NBC's sexy new drama "Miss Match." A bartender by profession, Victoria aids Kate in her quest to help the hopeless-in-love find their soul mates. Bell recently starred alongside Jeff Goldblum as photojournalist Nora Carr in the NBC television movie “War Stories” and appeared as the girlfriend of a bipolar character (Tom Everett Scott) in back-to-back episodes of the network's Emmy Award-winning medical drama “ER.” Bell made her screen debut in the lead role of Leila, an aspiring actress who sees her big break go horribly wrong when she can’t cry on camera in the Greenwich Films independent feature “Fresh Out of Tears.” She recently completed filming writer/director Adam Goldberg's feature film “I Love Your Work,” opposite Giovanni Ribisi. She also appears in the upcoming feature “Speakeasy” for writer/director Brendan Murphy, and executive producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, which is currently garnering critical praise on the festival circuit.
Her other interests include painting, with everything from oil to watercolor, and studying foreign languages and dialects -- a skill she honed during her four years in London -- and after a lifetime of extensive international travel.
Lake Bell currently resides in Los Angeles with her rescued pit bull Margaret. Her birthday is March 24, 1979.
Bell Dives Into NBC's 'Fathom'
Lake Bell, who co-starred on ABC's "Boston Legal" earlier this season, has submerged herself in a new role.
The actress has taken the female lead in NBC's drama pilot "Fathom," a sci fi-tinged show about mysterious creatures -- which turn out to be aliens -- living under the ocean. She'll play a marine biologist who discovers the creatures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bell played lawyer Sally Heep in the final episodes of "The Practice" last season and on "Boston Legal" for the first half of this year. Her character was written off the show shortly after Candice Bergen joined the cast last month. Bell also starred in NBC's "Miss Match" last season.
'Boston Legal' Alumna Finds 'Fathom'

Alan Shore and Denny Crane lead a brigade of high-priced civil litigators in an upscale Boston law firm in a series focusing on the professional and personal lives of brilliant but often emotionally challenged attorneys. Joining Shore and Crane is Brad Chase, a consumate guy's guy, who recently headed up the Washington, DC office and has been recruited to Boston to keep an eye on loose cannon senior partner Denny Crane. He also finds himself in an unending test of wills with fellow attorney Alan Shore. Fast-paced and darkly comedic, the series will confront social and moral issues, and the pursuit of happiness and money, with varying degrees of priority.
