Jessica Simpson first made her mark in the world of contemporary Christian music. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jessica was sharing bills with gospel great Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans while still in junior high. Word of the then-teen's phenomenal voice and stage presence soon filtered out of the Christian circuit and, in the late 90's, Jessica signed with Columbia Records. Sweet Kisses, her major label debut, was released in 1999 and spawned the smash singles "I Wanna Love You Forever," "I Think I'm In Love," and "Where You Are." Following the release of her debut, Jessica hit the road, wowing audiences worldwide with her soaring emotion-packed vocals and high-energy stage presence. "It was an amazing time for me," Jessica recalls. "I was 17 and seeing the world, doing what I loved and doing it in a way that felt right." Listen to Jessica Simpson's In This Skin, and you will hear many things: Love. Romance. Sexuality. Sweetness. Maturity. Peace of Mind. Yet chief among the things you will hear is the sound of a woman becoming her own person and staying true to her heart. Cowritten by Jessica -- with contributions from Fran Gold, Damon Elliott and Trina Harmon, and production by Ric Wake and Rob Fusari, In This Skin shines a light on a side of Jessica that she's never had the opportunity to let free. "I've been searching my soul for things I wanted to sing about and things I wanted to say and so I came up with this record, "Jessica explains. "When people listen to this record it will make them happy." That's because the songs on In This Skin reflect the happiness and growth that Jessica has been experiencing. Now married to long time beau Nick Lachey (of 98 Degrees) and firmly in control of her life and creative output, Jessica has reached deep inside to come up with an album that may well be most personal of her career.
In This Skin might be Jessica's third collection but, in terms of emotional honesty and stylistic range, it is, in a real sense, the first album that's truly her own. That's because In This Skin marks Jessica's debut as a songwriter and her lyrical and musical influences fuel the album's thematic journeys. "I've wanted artistic control for a long time but in the past I wasn't able to get it," she confesses. "Being in charge of your creative destiny is beautiful for any artist, especially someone like me who wants to sing about positive things and to inspire others. This time I really wanted to make an album that was real and organic and that you could listen to all the way through and maybe be inspired to fall in love or follow your dreams. "
That sense of liberation is abundant on the album's first single "Sweetest Sin." Written by hit maker Diane Warren and produced by Ric Wake, "Sweetest Sin" is unabashedly carnal and, as Jessica notes, a marked change from the giddy teen pop that launched her career. "I'm not dancing around this time," she laughs. "I'm not wearing that head set mic ever again in my life!"
A celebration of love, her marriage, and making love, "Sweetest Sin" signals a new artistic direction for Jessica. "You'll definitely know I'm a woman after hearing this song," she offers. "It's a deeply sensual song but it's also romantic and recording it was one of the most natural things I've done. It's so great to be able to sing about things you're going through because it makes you relate even more to the music which makes that music beautiful."
In This Skin is filled with both beauty and love, with lyrics drawn from personal experiences and journal entries to create an album resonating with a captivating reality. Just listen to the bittersweet ballad "You Don't Have To Let Go." "I wrote that song for my dad," Jessica says. "It was so hard for him to walk me down the aisle and for him to handle the idea that I was getting married and, in his eyes, leaving. So I wrote this song for him about our relationship and all that he sacrificed for me."
"Underneath," an emotional ode to the ups and downs of romantic love, was penned during a turbulent period in Nick and Jessica's relationship when the pair embarked an ill-fated separation. Jessica cites the love and support of her fans as the motivation behind the album's title track's message of determination. Set to a gentle acoustic-laced groove "In This Skin" is, according to Jessica, about "...being comfortable in your own skin, being worthy and feeling beautiful. I wrote in the liner notes that this is for all the fans. I want them to listen to the song and let the lyrics serve as an inspiration."
Inspiration and spirit have always been crucial to Jessica. From the beginning of her career she has aimed to be more than just some cutie pie teen star: she's always invested her songs with positive outlooks and lived her life in a manner that stays true to her beliefs.
The title track to Irresistible, her 2001 follow-up, was a crossover smash, charting on the Hot 100 (#15), the Rhythmic Top 40 (#12), Top 40 Mainstream (#3) and Top 40 Tracks (#5).
Since the release of Irresistible, Jessica's been working on her acting résumé. In addition to her recurring role on "That 70's Show," Jessica can be seen in an episode of UPN's "The Twilight Zone." Meanwhile, Jessica and new husband Nick Lachey will share their lives with fans in an upcoming reality TV series on MTV.
But music remained one of Jessica's truest loves and, when it came time to make In This Skin, she was ready for this vital next stage in her career. "I knew the sort of songs I wanted to sing and write," she says. "Songs that are uplifting and real."
With her new album, Jessica Simpson comes into her own as a woman and refines her ever-evolving voice as an artist. Collaborating with a crop of up-and-coming writers and producers, Jessica has created an album that sounds fresh and rings absolutely true. Her message? "It's about love and confidence and loving where I am in my life."
Jessica Simpson Kept Telling Herself: I'm Beautiful
Jessica Simpson used to leave notes on her mirror telling her how beautiful she was. The sexy singer, who stars in MTV's 'Newlyweds' with husband Nick Lachey, says she was never comfortable with her looks and had to take drastic measures to improve her self-esteem.
But Jessica, 24, says when she met Nick she didn't need the notes any more because he made her feel beautiful. She said: "I didn't start feeling comfortable in my own skin until I was 20. That's when you begin to accept your flaws because you can't change them.
Before that I had notes taped on my mirror saying, 'you're beautiful in this skin'. I told myself that every day and eventually I got married and fell madly in love with my husband who loves every inch of me. I realised I didn't have to compete with anybody and people liked me for me. Mess-ups and all."
Despite her new found self-confidence, Jessica admits she still cringes when she watches herself on 'Newlyweds'.
She said in an interview with Britain's Cosmo Girl magazine: "One thing that drives me crazy about myself is that I lose everything. I'm a disaster. And I watch the show and cringe - could I say, 'I'm so tired' any more?!"
Jessica and Nick Hollywood's new golden couple!

US magazine editors are now scrambling to find the next couple to take over the role, with Simpson and Lachey sharing first place alongside Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz.
In the poll, conducted among American magazine editors by USA TODAY, celebrity couples were ranked on a scale of one to five, with Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline coming last.
The poll is as follows:
1. Nick Lachey Jessica Simpson (4) ; Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner (4); Cameron Diaz Justin Timberlake (4) 2. Jennifer Lopez Marc Anthony (3.3) 3. Demi Moore Ashton Kutcher (3.2) 4.Beyonce Knowles Jay-Z (2.8) ; Penelope Cruz Matthew McConaughey (2.8) 5. Britney Spears Kevin Federline (1.8)
Nick And Jessica Getting Back To The Reality Of The Studio
After dabbling in acting, both are renewing their focus on singing. After dabbling for a few years in movies, TV and kissable body shimmer, both Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are going back to being singers.
By mid-summer, wife and husband hope to have new records on the shelves.
"I've started thinking about it and I'm gonna try to release it coinciding with the ['Dukes of Hazzard'] movie, which is June 24," Simpson said recently. "That's a quick time period, but I think I can do it."
Simpson is warming up by recording some music for the "Dukes" soundtrack, including a duet with Willie Nelson, who is playing Uncle Jesse to her Daisy Duke.
"I haven't done that yet, but we will be doing something," Simpson said. "I was just in the studio with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis recording the single. ... I can't wait for people to hear it."
When pressed for details on the collaboration with longtime Janet Jackson producers Jam and Lewis, Simpson insisted, "I can't give away any of my new secrets."
As for Lachey, as "Newlyweds" fans know, he built a studio in the couple's house to work on the follow-up to his SoulO.
"It's definitely not gonna be the straight-ahead pop ballad thing that people have been used to hearing from me," Lachey said. "I'm trying to mix it up a little bit. Part of the beauty of music is experimentation and kind of finding yourself and your direction. That's what I've been doing the past few months — writing and singing and demoing and getting back to the kind of musical frame of mind and what it is that I really want to do."
The former 98 Degrees singer, who has also talked about reuniting the group (see "Nick Lachey Forging Ahead With Solo Career, Says 98 Degrees Reunion In The Cards"), is nearly finished writing and demoing and plans to start recording by the end of the month.
"Hopefully you can see a single at the end of May or early June and off we go. I'm trying to catch her," he said, pointing to his wife.

He tells gossip website Pagesix.com, "It's such bulls**t. He visits her on the set, and she is just the sweetest girl.
Jessica Simpson recovers from dehydration
"Newlyweds" star Jessica Simpson, who was briefly hospitalised after taking ill in Chicago while shooting for "The Oprah Winfrey Show", has recovered sufficiently to return to work.
"While Jessica was in Chicago, she contracted a stomach virus and became dehydrated," the People magazine quoted her representative as saying.
"She is already feeling better after being checked into, and released from, a local hospital for re-hydration before flying back to Los Angeles," the magazine said.

Dispute delays 'Newlyweds' star Jessica Simpson's fitness video
A dispute about a personal trainer has jeopardized an exercise video actress/singer and "Newlyweds" star Jessica Simpson was to make for fitness company SpeedFIT.
Simpson wanted trainer Michael Alexander, the person who got her into shape to play Daisy Duke for her film debut in "The Dukes of Hazard," to help her get ready for the exercise video, InTouch reported. However, SpeedFIT nixed Alexander, saying his workout style did not fit their image.
Video producers were mulling whether to bring a lawsuit in the multimillion-dollar contract Simpson signed. Simpson's business manager said Alexander's help would increase the marketability of the exercise video and efforts were being made to resolve the dispute.

"And I'm crossing my fingers to do something with Willie."

Jessica Simpson is to record a duet with country legend and her 'Dukes of Hazard' co-star Willie Nelson.

Jessica Simpson plays down rumours of split
Jessica Simpson is denying rumors of any impending split with husband Nick Lachey again. After tabloids ran pictures of Lachey, 31, surrounded by cheerleaders at a Super Bowl party in Jacksonville, Fla., and reports of a dinner with ex-girlfriend Jordana Jarjura, Simpson says their difficulties have been greatly exaggerated.
"I trust Nick totally, and he trusts me," Simpson told Us Weekly magazine in an issue hitting newsstands Friday. "We are committed to our relationship."
Simpson says she was unaware of Lachey's meeting with Jarjura, and while it was "innocent," it was also a learning experience.
"There are lessons to be learned," says Simpson. "Now Nick and I will tell each other about something like this ahead of time."
The stars of MTV's "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" have been beset by tabloid speculation on their marriage's imminent doom. But Simpson, 24, says that even when they are in different places, they are close.
"He's always the last person I talk to before I go to sleep."
"Newlyweds" recently returned for a third season. Simpson has just finished shooting her big-screen debut, "The Dukes of Hazzard," and plans to begin recording a new album in the spring.
Lachey: 'Jessica Is Spoiled And Fat'
Nick Lachey has labelled his wife Jessica Simpson "spoiled" and "fat" during a radio interview.
The NEWLYWEDS: NICK + JESSICA star, 31, compared his 24-year-old spouse to her dog DAISY during a live chat at the SUPER BOWL party in Florida, America, on Sunday (06FEB05), reports gossip website PAGESIX.COM.
Asked by America's MAXIM RADIO about Simpson's pet, Lachey comments, "She's spoiled and fat.
"That's right, spoiled and fat... just like it's mom."
Nick is game -but the blond isn't
Not all the playas were on the field at Super Bowl XXXIX.
Nick Lachey showed his pass-making skill at ESPN Magazine's party. Feeding rumors that the seconds are ticking away on his marriage to Jessica Simpson, the popster had his bodyguard run interference when Lachey saw a tall blond he liked.
"You want to meet Nick," the singer's emissary informed the pretty woman. "Because Nick certainly wants to meet you."
The security man brought the lady to Lachey and later gave her Lachey's cell phone number. "You call in 20 minutes and come over to the hotel," Lachey's handler whispered as Nick flashed a smile. (Rest easy, Jessica: The blond didn't go.)
Jessica Simpson's reality root canal
Pop star Jessica Simpson's painful root canal surgery featured on the new series of her hit reality TV show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica".
The show's dentist reprimanded the star for not having regular check-ups and failing to floss, reported Contactmusic.com.
Simpson was shown undergoing the painful procedure on the latest episode of the show as husband Nick Lachey watched.
The unsympathetic Lachey said: "Let this be a lesson to you and your children - tell them one day to go to the dentist."
MTV's new 'Newlyweds' and 'Ashlee Simpson' seasons premiering January 26
The third and supposed final season of MTV's Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica will premiere Wednesday, January 26 at 10PM ET/PT.
Comprised of ten episodes that the network gushes will "take fans even deeper" into the lives of Jessica Simpson and husband Nick Lachey, the series will air paired with the second season of The Ashlee Simpson Show, which will follow at 10:30PM ET/PT.
Highlights of Newlyweds' third season will include Nick celebrating his 31st birthday in Las Vegas, Nick and Jessica housebreaking their new dog daisy, a Halloween celebration, and the couple celebrating their second anniversary in Napa Valley (a fact that illustrates, as even Jessica herself pointed out when proclaiming this would be the final season of the series, the term "newlyweds" no longer appropriately describes the couple.)
Plus, in manager and Simpson dad Joe Simpson's latest example of shamelessly utilizing his daughters' reality programs as a launch vehicle for their other projects, Newlyweds will also provide viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at Jessica as participates in stunt car training for her role as Daisy Duke in the upcoming Dukes Of Hazzard.
Jessica Simpson is frightened of dolphins
The 'Newlyweds' beauty, who is married to former boyband star Nick Lachey, has confessed that she finds the friendly mammals as scary as sharks but tried to overcome her phobia on a recent holiday with her husband. She said: "A dolphin might as well be a shark to me. I didn't want to get in the water. But I put my wetsuit on and said: 'I'm going to face this fear.' I was determined that I was going to swim with the dolphins. But I was scared to death."
Meanwhile, the blonde babe says she struggled to adapt to married life because she had no experience of looking after herself. Jessica, 24, whose sister is teen star Ashlee Simpson, says she found it difficult living on her own initially because she'd always had everything done for her. She told Britain's OK magazine: "I have always been taken care of my whole life. My mom made the bed and did the whole thing. But Nick is so independent. He's been doing his laundry and everything since he was very young. So when we got married our two worlds collided and there were a couple of issues that had to be tweaked.
Jessica Simpson Creamed At Food Joint
When a waiter at Smith & Wollensky in South Beach accidentally dumped the piping-hot side dish of creamed spinach on Simpson's dress Sunday night, some crew members from her MTV show "Newlyweds" laughed, as did a few steakhouse staffers who witnessed the mishap.
But the joke was lost on Jessica's hubby, Nick Lachey. After the snickering waiters scurried down stairs, Lachey called over the eatery's manager and told her, "I want those [bleeps] to apologize to my wife!" The miffed Mr. Simpson later complained about the temperature of his filet mignon and finally refused to pay the bill, which also included the order of Jessica's pal, Jamie-Lynn DiScala. A restaurant mole tells us MTV eventually agreed to pick up the tab and managed to capture the entire spinach saga on tape for use in a future episode.
Jessica Simpson Buys Lachey A Ferrari
Pop beauty Jessica Simpson gave her husband Nick Lachey a dream gift over the Christmas holidays - a Ferrari.
The Irresistible singer, who has been married to Lachey for two years, decided to spare no expense on her beau, and was thrilled when she received a large, flawless emerald ring in return.
She coos, "We had a big Christmas. I'll be wearing my ring with my T-shirts!''
Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey To Adopt
Pop star JESSICA SIMPSON is getting ready for motherhood as she turns 24 - she's planning to adopt.
The singer-turned-reality TV star, who celebrated her birthday on Saturday (10JUL04), is thinking about starting a family - before 30-year-old husband NICK LACHEY gets too old.
She says, "I don't think it will be in six months or a year, but after that, Nick's getting old."
"When I was 16, I wanted to adopt a baby boy that was found in a dumpster in Texas. I almost took him home with me."
Lachey, who grew up with adopted and biological siblings, adds, "We'd love to have our own children, but we have a heart for kids, and we'd love to adopt."
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey Sorry for Pitt and Aniston
While the rumors proved true about the marriage of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, they haven't come home to roost for another Hollywood couple: Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.
Simpson, whose two-year-old marriage to Lachey has been the subject of considerable media speculation, is sympathetic to Pitt and Aniston's situation.
"Any marriage is tough," Simpson told the syndicated TV entertainment show "Access Hollywood" in an interview that aired Monday night. "You go through struggles and it's work. You have to make it happen."
On Friday, Pitt and Aniston issued a statement saying they were separating after 4 1/2 years of marriage.
"For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any speculation reported by the tabloid media," the actors said.
In November, Simpson denied rumors that she and Lachey were on the rocks, telling People magazine, "Our relationship is better than it's ever been. We are absolutely not breaking up."
The pop singer and co-star of the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" admires the way Pitt and Aniston dealt with their breakup.
"I think they probably issued a statement because they thought they owed it to their fans," Simpson said. "There are people who are fans of them together, and it's good to hear from the person and not believe the lies."
Others in Hollywood also reacted to the split.
"I'm shocked," said Matt LeBlanc, who co-starred on the hit NBC sitcom "Friends" with Aniston.
New Season on MTV for Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey
MTV is staying in business with the Simpson family as the cable channel has ordered new seasons of "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" and "The Ashlee Simpson Show" as well as a fresh effort tentatively titled "The Nick Lachey Project."
All three moves were announced as part of MTV's latest programming arsenal for 2005, which hopes to move toward 52 weeks of originals in the network's "10 Spot."
"Newlyweds" and "Ashlee" will both return in January, with the former's third season confirmed as the show's last. "Nick," which tracks the actor/singer as he works to get signed on to a new label and record another album, is set to premiere sometime later in the year. The series has an eight-episode order.

Jessica Simpson’s mom used to stretch her legs every night
Jessica Simpson’s mother used to pull her legs every night – because she was worried they were too short.
According to her mum, Tina, the sexy singer, who stars in MTV’s ‘Newlyweds’ with husband Nick Lachey, used to have a “long body and dwarf legs” and was desperately concerned that she would look odd when she grew up.
Jessica said: “My mum was so worried that because of my long body and dwarf legs, I would grow up looking strange.
So every night, before I went to bed, she would pull them and stretch them so they would be in proportion with the rest of my body!”
Tina added: “Well, they were just so short!”
Jessica Simpson reveals how she got in ''Daisy Duke'' shape
In an interview pop star Jessica Simpson reveals the diet and exercise regime that prepared her to wear "Daisy Duke's" signature shorts in The Dukes of Hazzard.
Simpson says that parting with sugar has proven to be the most difficult task. "I try to stay away from sugars as much as I can, which is hard," she says.
The pop star says that skipping out on her strenuous workout routine is not an option, even if shooting on The Dukes of Hazzard set runs late. "I basically work out two hours a day," she says. "Last night I finally got to go to the gym at ten o'clock... and I was on the treadmill for an hour."
When asked if two hours in the gym every day was a bit much, Simpson replied, "You've seen what I'm wearing, Billy."
Simpson also confirmed that she and husband Nick Lachey send each other risqué text messages to keep the spark alive while she is away from home. "That's our way of flirting," she says. When we prompted the "Newlyweds" star to reveal the content of the messages, Simpson smiled and replied, "I can't tell you that, those are our secrets."
Jessica & Nick's secret 2nd Honeymoon in Hawaii
Nick Lachey's romantic getaway plan seemed so simple: He recently decided to whisk his wife of two years, Jessica Simpson, 24, off to Paris for some muchneeded alone time.
"Nick felt like a quiet, romantic -- and private -- trip to Paris could help them reconnect," says a friend of Nick, 31. "He feels like he and Jessica have had no time alone together as a couple for the past two years, and it's taken a toll on their marriage."
Unfortunately, the plan fell apart fast when Jessica's father and hands-on manager, Joe Simpson, got wind of it -- and added his own commercial twist. "He thought this could be a great idea for an MTV special, like, The Newlyweds Take a Honeymoon," says Nick's friend. The pal also says Joe hoped that by televising the Paris trip, he'd have a chance to show how popular Jessica is in Europe.
According to the friend's report, what Joe didn't seem concerned about was his daughter and Nick's privacy, something that's been in short supply since the duo married in October of 2002. Back then, they honeymooned at Fiji's Turtle Island Resort (also the honeymoon spot for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, and Trista and Ryan Sutter). Much of that honeymoon was caught on tape and used as promotional material for the couple's Newlyweds show, which premiered almost a year later.
This time, Nick wanted a real honeymoon as a couple, without Joe Simpson and the cameras -- and it couldn't have come at a more crucial time. The marriage already looked like it was showing signs of stress in October, when Nick attended a bachelor party with nude porn stars. More recently, the couple has been living apart while Jessica films The Dukes of Hazzard movie in Louisiana and Nick remains home in Calabasas, Calif.
So after the Paris plan fell to pieces, Nick took matters into his own hands, secretly booking an exclusive villa at Hawaii's Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, where the best ones cost $3,300 a night. It's the same luxe resort where Britney and Kevin frolicked this summer, and Hawaii has romantic significance for Nick and Jessica: Nick proposed to Jessica on a yacht off the islands.
When Jessica arrived home from Louisiana, Nick was ready to immediately whisk her to Hawaii, but "Jessica wanted to invite her sister, Ashlee, and Ashlee's boyfriend, [Ryan Cabrera]," says a source close to the couple. "Nick held his ground, telling her: 'Baby, this is just for us. I want you all to myself.' "
"Nick & Jessica's Family Christmas"
America's favorite young married couple, Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson, multi-platinum artists known from their hit MTV series, "Newlyweds," star in a fun-filled family Christmas variety hour of comedy and music celebrating the holidays. With the success of their first variety special, the beloved Nick & Jessica return to celebrate the holidays with friends and family, while showcasing their singing and comedic talents in a series of sketches and musical performances with such guests as Brian McKnight, a magical rendition of "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby, Ashlee Simpson joining sister Jessica and singing their first televised duet of "Little Drummer Boy," and Nick's group, 98 Degrees, reuniting to sing "I'll Be Home for Christmas." All of Nick and Jessica's wishes come true in their magical cabin, where snow can fall at the flip of a switch or presents can appear under the tree in an instant. The famed couple open the show with a singing and dancing number to the tune of "Baby It's Cold Outside," from Jessica's new Christmas album entitled "Rejoyce: The Christmas Album." Members of Nick and Jessica's family share special memories of them growing up and spending the holidays together. And the Simpson and Lachey families unite (35 in all) to close out the show with a performance of "Silent Night."
Now fans can get their Jessica Simpson Fix legally
As lawsuits continue to be filed against illegal file-sharers, three major music labels housing artists including Green Day, Jessica Simpson and Ashanti have signed on to supply their music to a legal downloading service.
Warner Music, Sony BMG Music Entertaiment and Universal Music Group (Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Bon Jovi) have come to licensing agreements with the forthcoming Peer Impact network, the company announced on Wednesday (November 24). The fourth major label, EMI, has yet to sign on.
Peer Impact, scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2005, will be a peer-to-peer legal digital file-sharing network. The service will also make sure that artists and rights-holders receive compensation for each file shared on the network. The labels that have signed on to participate will allow Peer Impact's users access to their entire catalogs of music.
"Our goal is to populate Peer Impact with the greatest, and most diverse, collection of digital content anywhere," Greg Kerber, chairman and CEO of Wurld Media, the company developing the network, said in a statement.
"We're excited and proud to gain the cooperation of leading record labels," Kerber added, "and we look forward to concluding even more agreements in the coming weeks."
Jessica Simpson's Lickable Fragrances Won't Get In The Way Of A Perky Butt
Though she doesn't really need to, Jessica Simpson is counting calories for her two latest projects. The singer introduced her new line of lickable fragrance products this week, and she's also become a workout fiend to prepare for her upcoming feature-film debut.
At the Rockefeller Center Sephora Simpson said that she co-created Taste, the latest offshoot of her Dessert body-care line, to smell and taste like her favorite smells of childhood — especially the cake batter in the kitchen that signaled something tasty and decadent was on the way.
The newest scent, Delicious, is a combination of Tahitian vanilla, white chocolate, apricot, coconut and honey — it smells a bit more like food than fragrance. That's intentional, Simpson said, so that the product could be interactive. Sephora staffers made the point by shooting Taste's whipped body cream into people's hands, loading them with sprinkles, and encouraging them to taste away.
"It's low-calorie," Simpson said. "It's like having dessert without the calories, so if you're on a diet, it's a good thing to just kind of lick off every now and then. Or have someone else do it — that's even better" (see "Nick Lachey Likely To Start Kissing Jessica Simpson's Tummy More").
Luckily for Simpson, all the taste-testing she did with husband Nick Lachey to determine which flavors and fragrances work best didn't put a dent in her other project: preparing to squeeze into Daisy Duke's hot pants for the big-screen remake of "The Dukes of Hazzard" (see "Jessica Simpson Scores Daisy Duke Role"). Besides working on thickening her Southern accent with the aid of best friend Casey Cobb, Simpson said she's now spending two and a half hours a day to get her butt in gear.
"I'm trying to get my butt perky, and I'm trying to actually get a butt," she said. "I have a white-girl bootie, so I'm doing all my squats to lift it a little bit and get some junk in my trunk."
Meanwhile, Simpson has also recorded two duets with Lachey recently, one for the special-edition DVD of Disney's "Aladdin," which was released on Tuesday ("A Whole New World") and another for her forthcoming Christmas album, due November 23 ("Baby It's Cold Outside").
"We both love those songs so much," she said. "We're very excited about the Christmas song, because that's an old Dean Martin song. It's a classic, fun, flirtatious song to do together."
Jessica Simpson To Turn On 'MTV 44 1/2' MTV's Giant Times Square Billboard
Billboard will broadcast music videos, MTV News breaks, weather updates and other info.
The MTV 44 1/2 HDTV screen in Times Square was first used during MTV's Spankin' New Music Week 2004.
The billboard, wich is 25 feet high and 40 feet wide, will stand out among the bright lights andbig screens of Times Square byJessica Simpson To Turn On 'MTV 44 1/2' — MTV's Giant Times Square Billboard broadcasting music videos, MTV News breaks, MTV.com content and simulcasts of exclusive events. It is located on Seventh Avenue between West 44th and 45th Streets, across from MTV's offices, and was first used to project Destiny's Child's live performance on "TRL" early in November.
For the benefit of the estimated 1.5 million people who pass "44 1/2" every day, the billboard will also feature a ticker along the bottom of the screen with concert and Broadway theater information, weather updates, sports scores and more, beginning in January.
The billboard, which is wrapped in a gold picture frame and was designed by Mitsubishi Electric, will also act as the world's largest video screen, allowing passerby to play games on their mobile phones. Pedestrians whose phones have text-messaging capabilities will be able to play along with programs, including trivia games and simple-command games, from the street by following text-messaging instructions on the screen. Xbox and PlayStation2 consoles will be hooked up to the screen as well, allowing celebrities visiting the studio to engage in very public video-game competitions with one another. The billboard's gaming function is expected to launch in January.
Nick and Jessica's Porn Christmas?
It would probably take a team of psychiatrists and economists to find out the appeal of Jessica Simpson and her husband, Nick Whatever, so we're not going to tax ourselves on that. But reader David Eckstein points out that after the heat left the hot kitchen that was the Terrell Owens-Nicolette Sheridan set-to on "Monday Night Football," nobody said anything about another locker room scene involving Ms. Simpson's smarter half (OK, so we did watch part of their "Newlyweds" series, so we know that much is true). Anyway, Mr. Eckstein -- who admitted he might have been the only person with taste in the entire country who watched "Nick & Jessica's Family Christmas" -- says that Nick had his own locker room scene. Now, mind you, we apparently have a lower threshold for pain than Mr. Eckstein does, so we didn't watch this special. In fact, we'd rather chop off our own (hey you can't print that) than watch such a soul-killing special. It could have been "Nick and Jessica's Porn Christmas" -- still, a nonstarter. Anyway, Mr. Eckstein said Nick entered the skit wearing only a towel, desperate househusband that he is. Nick then puts on deodorant. (Perhaps the brand was flashed?) Then, in a succession of scenes we can only imagine as woeful and insipid, a woman wearing a towel proceeds to lick Nick's armpit.
That's what the e-mail says. She's followed by a "burly man" who licks Nick's other pit.
OK, everybody take a 30 or 40 second break here. Put the paper down. Breathe. Think about a beautiful field in Ohio. Good. Breathe out. It's morning in America and ... d'oh!
So a guy in a towel gets a bisexual (that counts, right?) armpit licking on a "Family Christmas" show and nobody phones the FCC? What the hell is wrong with this country? We've got your moral values right here, pal.
Anyway, who knows. Maybe Mr. Eckstein made this up. We were too busy gouging our eyes out to watch. Then again, it could be things were far more heinous. Maybe Nick and Jessica sang. We don't care what kind of woman you are. If you sat at home and watched that Christmas special alone, that's no kind of happy. That's just pathetic.
Jessica Simpson is planning workout videos
Jessica Simpson started getting in the holiday spirit a little early this year, but now that she's finished both her Christmas album, ReJoyce, and her Christmas special for ABC, she can't wait to take a small break before heading back to juggling multiple projects. On the singer's plate for the new year? The usual stuff, like filming movies, writing music and getting her Jane Fonda on.
"I'm going to be doing an exercise video, just because it's fun, and why not?" Simpson said. "Exercise is such a huge part of my life after the role of Daisy, so I just thought it would be cool."
Since landing her first movie role as Daisy Duke in the upcoming "Dukes of Hazzard," Simpson has been working her butt off, so to speak, spending upwards of two hours a day doing squats and lunges (see "Jessica Simpson's Lickable Fragrances Won't Get In The Way Of A Perky Butt"). Her new regimen gave Simpson the idea to team up with her longtime personal trainer — and childhood friend — Mike Alexander from Sports Club/L.A. They plan not only to develop her own how-to video, but to get in the branding game with exercise equipment as well.
"There's a treadmill I'm going to be putting out," she said. "And Mike's going to be giving me good tips for the video. He's a great guy, and he really keeps me focused, which is hard to do down in Baton Rouge, [Louisiana,]" where she's midway through shooting "Dukes" and where "everything's fried, Southern, Cajun."
Perhaps some of that Southern feel will end up seeping into her next album, Simpson said, since she's toying with experimenting with other genres in order to make more timeless music. "I want to still keep it pop," she said, "but steer left a little bit. Maybe I'll put a little bit of country in there, maybe a little bit of jazz."
Though she's been listening to Björk for inspiration, Simpson doesn't want to overplan what she does next, lest the tunes sound forced. "I'm not going to put a lot of thought into it," she said.
In the meantime, she's content with getting that timeless sound by covering classic carols for Christmas, singing "O Holy Night" with Brian McKnight; "Little Drummer Boy" with her sister, Ashlee; "Baby It's Cold Outside" with her husband, Nick Lachey; and "Silent Night" with the 35 members of the Simpson-Lachey clan on the finale of "Nick and Jessica's Family Christmas," airing Wednesday (December 1) at 9 p.m. on ABC. (Click for photos from "Nick and Jessica's Family Christmas.") Part of the reason they did this variety special, the couple's second for the network, was to reunite relatives who hadn't seen each other since their wedding; she's transforming her old family tradition of gathering around the piano and singing together during the holidays into a new tradition involving the whole extended family. "I'm so excited, now that I'm married and looking to start a family one day, that we can create new Christmas memories of our own," she said.
One of those memories — if they go through with it — could also involve a new home. She said she and Lachey are talking about going in together on a second residence in New York as their Christmas gifts to each other so that they don't have to stay in hotels every time they hit the Big Apple. "I don't know where in New York," she said, "but I just love the vibe of New York, and it would be very fun for us."
"Nick and Jessica's Family Christmas" will re-air on MTV beginning December 15 at 10 p.m.
Jessica and Nick sing in Rockefeller Center, New York
A bright symbol of the holiday burst to life in Rockefeller Center Tuesday night as Mayor Michael Bloomberg and three Olympians turned on the 30,000 lights decorating the center's famed Christmas tree. Three Olympic gold winners ice skater Sarah Hughes and gymnasts Paul Hamm and Carly Patterson joined the mayor to light the tree at the annual ceremony in midtown Manhattan.
"It's amazing," said Jessica Mendelsohn, 20, who viewed the lighting ceremony from the crowd. "It's gorgeous." This year's tree, a 9-ton, 71-foot-tall Norway spruce found on the property of a Suffern, N.Y. family, boasted a star at its top for the first time in its 72-year history. The star is covered in 25,000 crystals and is 9 1/2 feet in diameter.
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey of "Newlyweds" fame sang a duet before the lighting ceremony, and Hughes, who won first place in women's figure skating in Salt Lake City in 2002, performed on the rink adjacent to the tree.
The festivities which included musical performances by Hilary Duff, Clay Aiken, Chris Isaak and Vanessa Williams were broadcast from Rockefeller Center and hosted by Al Roker of NBC's "Today" show. Also on hand were the Radio City Rockettes and the band Chicago.
With temperatures in the 40s, thousands of people stood bundled inside police barricades for the ceremony. "Christmas in New York is all about Rockefeller Center, the Christmas show, the skating and the lighting of the tree," said Bridget Cagney, of Queens. "It wouldn't be Christmas in New York without that."
The 40-foot-wide tree was lifted into place Nov. 11 and adorned with colored lights on five miles of wire. The tree is to remain illuminated until Jan. 6.
The first Rockefeller Center tree was put up in 1931 by workers helping to build the complex, and the first formal tree-lighting ceremony took place in 1933.
Jessica Simpson to Star in ''Room Service''
Variety reports that Jessica Simpson is set to star in Room Service, an adaptation of the novel by Beverly Brandt. The film is a romantic comedy about an heiress, Katya Morgan, who is disinherited and loses everything – her money and cushy life. She wants it all back and certainly not the job as a maid or the bucktoothed Boxer or even to fall for Alex Sheridan, the general manager of the swank Royal Palmetto hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. But the girl soon learns that getting what you don’t want can sometimes be the best reward of all.
Simpson’s father and manager, Joe Simpson will produce the film with Gale Ann Hurd, Randall Emmett and George Furla. Janus Cercone will adapt the screenplay.
Jessica Simpson is a very sensitive person
Simpsons, who plays the role of Daisy Duke in the movie, is said to have grown tired of Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott's constant teasing about the size of her butt.
An Ananova source reports, "Johnny and Seann have been saying her butt looks big compared to the original Daisy. They know she's sensitive about it."
"In one scene, Johnny and Seann are in the car as Bo and Luke talking to Daisy and then leap out. But in one take they leapt out naked from the waist down. Jessica freaked out and told them to grow up."
Jessica Simpson ready to start in the new romantic comedy ''Room Service''
Though she's currently in the midst of shooting her first film role, playing Daisy Duke in the big-screen version of "The Dukes of Hazzard," Jessica Simpson has already lined up her second. The singer will star in the riches-to-rags romantic comedy ''Room Service'' to work as a hotel maid when she's disinherited.
In this adaptation of Beverly Brandt's book of the same name, Simpson will play Katya Morgan, a Paris Hilton type who's always getting into trouble — until she gets the news of her father's death. In short order, the character goes from luxuriating in a villa to cleaning toilets and making beds to pay off her bill in the Scottsdale, Arizona, hotel where she stayed during her father's funeral.
As she works to pay off her tab, she finds love with the hotel's general manager. At the same time, she manages to pass tests secretly laid out in her father's will — such as staying gainfully employed and not appearing in the tabloids more than three times in a year — thus earning back the inheritance she thought she'd never receive. Janus Cercone, who wrote "Ed" and "Leap of Faith," will adapt the screenplay, which Brandt says she won't have any input on.
"I'm hoping there's a few scenes they won't change," Brandt said, "like when Katya is at her stepmother's house five miles away from town, and she won't let her in, and she has to pee. She can't walk in to town in time, so she's squatting with the scorpions when the police come to arrest her. Or when she's at a charity benefit, and she doesn't realize at first that they're auctioning off her belongings. When she does, she starts stuffing her shoes down her shirt. They end up tackling her on the stairs, and the shoes go everywhere."
Brandt said Simpson is the perfect choice to play Katya, since her character also "doesn't really know how to do things normal women know how to do," such as cooking and cleaning. "I don't want to say she's clueless, but she's not in the reality most of us are in," Brandt said. "She's sort of innocent."
Simpson's father, Joe Simpson, will co-produce the picture along with Emmett/ Furla Films and Valhalla Motion Pictures. He is also serving as an executive producer for "Wannabe," which features Jessica's sister, Ashlee (see "Ashlee Simpson Trades Spotlight For Supporting Role In 'Wannabe' ").
"Room Service" isn't the only upcoming release about a rich girl forced to fend for herself. "Material Girls," starring Hilary and Haylie Duff as sibling heiresses who lose their fortune, is scheduled to begin shooting in January.
Jessica Simpson's father Joe criticised by Christians
JESSICA SIMPSON's manager dad JOE was accused of selling his soul to the devil by his Christian friends when he turned his pop star daughter into a sex symbol.
The former youth minister in Texas once tried to sell the idea of his then-teenage daughter to Christian record labels, but he quickly realised her look and her sizeable bust was making her more than just a pop singer.
He says, "Her chest is ahead of her by about two or three feet. It gets there before she does."
Simpson then quit his job to become a full-time manager when bigger record companies became interested in his daughter, upsetting the elders in his church.
He recalls, "I was accused of, 'Your daughter doesn't love God anymore; you've forsaken the church. All of that. "I was like, 'You don't even know me or know my family. How can you say that?'"
But Simpson does admit that he does regret some of the racy photoshoots that his daughter has appeared in over the years: "Part of this is a learning process. When we started we weren't equipped with how to say no."

Jessica Simpson's own fashion line and cometics
The pop diva has signed a $10 million licensing deal with Andrew Sports Club to develop her own fashion line, the New York Daily News reported. Sports Club CEO Andrew Kirpalani said his company would develop a line of kids' clothing, dresses, hats, watches, jewelry and underwear under JS Brand Marketing. The duds will be sold under the Jessica Simpson and Sweet Kisses brand names and are due to hit fine stores such as Federated, Sears and JCPenney in time for next year's back-to-school shopping season.
The "With You" singer also plans to introduce the clothes on the third season of her hit MTV reality show, Newlyweds. Both Simpson and her mother, Tina, reportedly intend to get involved with designing for the line, which will feature casual clothes with undertones of the popster's preferred styles, according to Kirpalani, who flew to California to meet with the Simpson family. "Jessica loved our knit tops and the way we use beading and rhinestones," he told the Daily News. "She's crazy about long ponchos. And especially jeans." Kirpalani said his company was also in negotiations with Reebok to develop a line of Jessica Simpson shoes.
The enterprising Simpson already has her own line of edible beauty products, dubbed Dessert, which includes products such as Deliciously Kissable Body Shake and Deliciously Kissable Sugar Scrub in flavors such as caramel and sweet butter. However, it seems that Simpson's Dessert has left a bad taste in a cosmetics company's mouth. Last month, California-based company Cosmojet sued Simpson, Dessert Beauty and cosmetics retailer Sephora, claiming that it produced nearly $1 million worth of products for the Dessert line, but was paid for only about $800,000, according to documents posted on Celebrity Justice's Website.
According to Cosmojet's suit, lack of payment caused "irreparable harm" to the company's cash flow and it is seeking funds in the amount of $189,077.71, plus interest and court fees. Simpson released a statement through her publicist denying any knowledge of the matter and vowing to take legal action in return. "Jessica Simpson is a spokesperson for Dessert products and has no involvement in the day-to-day operation of the company's business. Ms. Simpson has no knowledge whether Cosmojet's claim has any basis, nor does she have any responsibility for the company's accounting and billing procedures or payment obligations," the statement read.
"Ms. Simpson does intend to vigorously dispute Cosmojet's meritless claims against her and to take legal action against Cosmojet for involving her in this matter." Apparently, Simpson works hard for her money—and she wants to keep it.
Jessica's new release of a Christmas CD and a live DVD of her Reality Tour just in time for holiday
Her Christmas CD, ReJoyce The Christmas Album, is dedicated to her late grandmother (who was named Joyce, get it?), and features duets with her husband, Nick Lachey and sister, Ashlee. The Jessica Simpson Reality Tour Live DVD features one of her performances from her successful 2004 nationwide tour. Both the DVD and the CD will be available in stores on Nov. 23.
Meanwhile, Simpson continues to expand her exposure on both the small and big screens. She and Lachey are currently filming a third season of Newlyweds, despite the fact that they just celebrated their second anniversary and she also snared the role of Daisy Duke in the upcoming remake of The Dukes of Hazzard. The popster has been nominated for two People's Choice awards: Favorite Remake for her single "Take My Breath Away" and Favorite Reality Show for Newlyweds. She's also nominated for two American Music Awards—Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album for In This Skin.
And, just when you thought she couldn't saturate the market any further, Simpson will return to ABC with Lachey on Dec. 1 for the couple's second variety hour, titled Nick & Jessica's Family Christmas.
November 7, 2004.
Pop star Jessica Simpson has been sued by a California cosmetics company that claims it is still owed nearly $US200,000 ($262,430) for products it supplied for the "Dessert" beauty line the singer endorses. In a lawsuit filed, Cosmojet claims Simpson and Dessert Beauty Inc failed to pay the full $US1 million ($1.31 million) it was promised for products it made for the line. Cosmetic retailer Sephora was also named in the suit. Simpson maintains she was simply a spokeswoman for Dessert and was not responsible for the company's accounting and billing procedures. Randi Shinder, president of Dessert Beauty, acknowledged receiving almost $US1 million ($1.31 million) in products made by Cosmojet, but said his company refused payment on a portion of the shipment because it did not "meet the company's high product standards and specifications."
Jessica Simpson presents new Christmas Album
Poor Jessica Simpson. The oft-pouting blonde only began selling serious quantities of records after her documentary-turned-sitcom Newlyweds took off, leaving her best known for a lack of basic everyday knowledge rather than her ability to belt out a song. Then her little sis Ashlee upstaged her, getting tons of press and sales with her own pop debut.
Well, Jess is working hard to bring the focus back to her music. Two upcoming releases will showcase her vocal talents just in time for the holidays.
The Christmas Album marks Jessica’s first foray into holiday record territory, and is named for her late grandmother, Joyce Adams "Nanny" Simpson. The record is a famous-family affair, featuring two fairly expected duets — hubby Nick Lachey joins Jess on a cover of the classic, "Baby, It’s Cold Outside," while Ashlee helps out on "Little Drummer Boy."
Jessica and Nick even take the co-writing reins on one song, "It’s Christmas Time Again."
Hitting stores alongside the CD will be another stocking stuffer: a live DVD from Jessica’s 2004 Reality Tour (perhaps named for her starring role in a reality show? She’s big on the wordplay titles, this one). The disc features Jessica’s July 30 performance in L.A. — a show that apparently earned the starlet the best reviews of her career. DVD bonuses include clips from both Newlyweds and Nick and Jessica’s variety show, a photo gallery and other surprises.
Meanwhile, the couple have their second variety hour in the works: Nick & Jessica’s Family Christmas, which will air December 1 and feature songs from ReJoyce. Jess is also jumping on the personal fashion line bandwagon, with plans to release a junior miss clothing line next year, and will also be making her cutoff-adorned movie debut as Daisy Duke in the upcoming Dukes Of Hazzard movie
Jessica likes Pepsi and Coke more
Jessica Simpson dumps 7-UP for Pepsi or Coke!
London: Pop star Jessica Simpson has reportedly turned down a lucrative contract to advertise soft drink 7-UP as she doesn't wants her chance to endorse either Pepsi or Coca Cola to get blocked.
"If you do 7-Up, you can't ever do Coke or Pepsi. You've got to hold out for the best deal possible. It's about me being a smart businesswoman as well as a musician," she was quoted by the Female First, as saying.(ANI)
New Fashion Line by Jessica Simpson
Pop diva Jessica Simson is now all set to make a mark in the fashion world, after inking a 10 million dollar deal with the Andrew Sports Club to develop her own fashion line.
According to the New York Daily News, the club's CEO, Andrew Kirpalani, has said that his company would develop a line of kids' clothing, dresses, hats, watches, jewelry and underwear under JS Brand Marketing.
"Jessica loved our knit tops and the way we use beading and rhinestones. She's crazy about long ponchos. And especially jeans," the paper quoted Kirpalani as saying.

The "With You" singer reportedly also plans to introduce the clothes on the third season of her hit MTV reality show, Newlyweds. (ANI)
Simpson and Lachey report happy marriage
Pop star couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey claimed they are happily married, despite new tabloid reports that he has threatened to walk out. "Our relationship is better than it's ever been. We are absolutely not breaking up," Simpson said. The couple admits they have arguments like every other couple, but say communication is the key to success. "What married couple doesn't [fight]?" said the 24-year-old singer. "You don't want to marry somebody who's just like you. So there are always going to be conflicts. That's what compromise is all about. It means that we're communicating." The couple, who celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Oct. 26, is keeping busy taping the upcoming season for their hit MTV reality show, Newlyweds, as well as an ABC variety show expecting to air in December. Jessica is also starring as Daisy Duke in the upcoming Dukes of Hazzard movie expected to hit theatres in July of 2005. When asked about younger sister Ashlee Simpson's latest lip-synch fiasco on Saturday Night Live, Jessica said, "Ashlee is an amazingly talented person. She's already sold 3 million records, which is more than I sold in two years. She's proven herself."
